Safe and secure care
Here you will find information about patients’ rights and how we work to ensure the provision of safe and secure healthcare.
Patient safety
We strive to ensure that the issue of patient's safety receives key consideration in all aspects of the healthcare we provide.
It is therefore important that we are all aware of that sometimes things can go wrong, even in the provision of healthcare. Mistakes are not a random occurrence – rather, they are often due to shortcomings in underlying procedures or problems within the organisation.
Working in the healthcare sector, we must always report any deviation that results in personal injury. We investigate the incident (the deviation) and implement appropriate measures to ensure it does not happen again.
The healthcare guarantee
The healthcare guarantee is a statutory element of the Health and Medical Services Act. This guarantee specifies the time limits within which you should be offered healthcare from the County Council or the Region.
It also states the maximum time you should have wait to receive the healthcare you need. Different time limits apply for primary care and specialist clinics.
